TUBERCULOSIS
NATIONAL SCHEME REQUIRED [Pee United Peess Association.] ASHBURTON, February 15. The Hospital Board, at its meeting to-day, adopted a committee’s report urging that provision should bo made by the ‘State for the proper inspection of the homes of tubercular persons and pensions for tho dependents of those in necessitous circumstances who have to enter institutions for treatment: that the law should be amended to make all oases and types of tuberculosis notifiable; that the State should take up the question of the control and treatment of incorrigible cases; and that tho law should he amended to compel eacli hospital board to take up what the department regards ns its proper share of the responsibility fdt the treatment of tuberculosis.
The report also stated: “The hoard is heartily in accord with any national scheme which, while dealing with the question of treatment, also deals with contributory causes in an effective manner; but considers that the mere combining of existing institutions is a very inadequate method of dealing with the problem.”
With tho addition that the law should provide compensation nt fair market value for cows destroyed, the report was adopted, and will form the subject of a remit, to the Hospital Boards’ Association.
