LATE SHIPPING
ARRIVED. —February 13, Matatua, s.s. (9.55 a.m.), 6,518 tons, F. Green, from London via Panama and Suva. MATATUA FROM LONDON. With general cargo for discharge, the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Matatua arrived this morning from London via Panama and Suva. She was berthed at the Victoria wharf. On December 23 the Matatua left London, and fairly rough weather was experienced during the lirst week, then a hue weather passage to Colon, where she arrived on January 10. The vessd coaled there, and passed through the Panama Canal the same day. Across the Pacific fair weather was experienced, and Suva was reached at noon on February 2. A large quantity of cargo was discharged there, and the Matatua sailed again at 6 a.m. on February 7 for Dunedin direct. With fine weather the vessel was off the Otago Heads at 8 o’clock this morning. Captain F. Green is in command, and the following are his officers:— Chief, Mr A. Hyde; second, Mr P. tlorwood; third, Mr J. Fuller; chief engineer, Mr W. Brown; second, Mr J. Wright; third, Mr 0. Bruce; fourth, Mr D. Stewart; fifth, Mr F. White; sixth. Mr F. Stuart; chief refrigerating engineer, Mr J. E. M'Millan; second, Mr J. Coulthard ; chief steward, Mr A. Rice: wireless operator, Mr L. Spalding. The Matatua will be in port until about the end of the week, when she will go to Timaru and Lyttelton to complete discharge. SHIPPING TELEGRAM. NEW PLYMOUTH, February 13.
