BURNS BEATS MACLAREN

SYDNFI, February 12

In a challenge race for the Australian professional sculling title Burns, the holder, easily defeated MacLaren, who stopped at the end of the second mile. Burns made the pace a cracker, and led from the jump. MacLaren began to show signs of distress at the mile and a-half, and at two miles collapsed. He picked up by the official boat. Burns continued, and finished the course (3 miles 170yds) in 17min 16sec.
