PROCURING LIQUOR
Alvan M'Coll pleaded guilty to drunkenness and not guilty to having procured liquor while prohibited.—Defendant pleaded that the order under which he was prohibited had been improperly drawn up and had lapsed.— Sergeant Turner said defendant had been convicted in Middleman:!), where some question arose as to jurisdiction. —The Magistrate said that so far as this court was concerned, it could not take any notice of any alleged irregularity.—Defendant was fined Ids, with costs, on each charge. Robert Munro, who did not appeal - , was also charged with drunkenness and procuring liquor, and was similarly dealt with. MAINTENANCE. Robert John M'Kenzie was charged with the disobedience of a maintenance order in respect of his wife, the arrears being slated at £5 9s.—Mr B. S. Irwin appeared for complainant, and said that there had been a good deal of trouble at various times in getting defendant to pay.—Defendant was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment, to be released on payment of arrears.
