T?r:).v Bros., Lid., report as follows for the week ended to-day:— Few consignments of elmlf arc coming in. but, on the other hand, the demand is limited. The price for best quality is round about £5 IDs per ton, sacks .extra, or, truck's .Dunedin. The Blenheim and Canterbury districts arc able to under-quote this market for .shipping. The oat market is a little brighter, and a, fair demand continues for prompt delivery, and the market remains firm at, ds (id, f.0.b.5.i., for A’s and Ms 3d for B’s. This is equivalent, to about 2s I.Ud, sacks extra, on .nicks country sidings, ami 2s 7d, according to railage. The crops are reported to ho looking veil, but, the acreage ns smaller than usual. The future of me oat market depends largely on the possibility of outside demand. Old season’s wheat is now practically out of first bunds. Millers arc holding old season’s wheat, and are carrying a fair quantity for mixing with the new wheat. Interest is mainly centred in the coming crop. The hulk of offerings will come on to the market during March and April. Beports indicate good yields in the South Island. The present hoi, dry weather is just what is required to ripen and harden the wheat. There is plenty of moisture in. the ground. Some lines of new wheat will bo available in Canterbury next week. The price for Tuscan is round about as Del per bushel, on trucks, country sidings, sacks extra. Little business is passing in fowl wheat, as poultry keepers are inclined to hold off. Stocks of old wheat are not heavy, and those arc selling round about 7s per bushel, sacks extra. Millers’ prices are as follow:—Flour —2oo’s, £l7 10s; 100’,s, £18; 50’s, £lB Jos; 25’s, £1!) 3s, Bran, £6. Pollard, £B. Oatmeal—2s’s, £2l ; 200’s, £2O.
The potato market is easy. Larger quantities are coming forward, and everything points to prices falling. The onion market is steady. Canterbury grown arc now starting to come forward. The market is short supply at present.
Business in the fruit marls has been brisk during the week. Supplies of apricots and peaches are coining forward freely, apricots in particular being in and prices low. Fairly large quantities of plums are now offering. Some good lines are coming forward from Canterbury and Otago Central. Supplies of Christchurch tomatoes are still on the small side, and large quantities are coming forward from the Nelson and Hawke’s Bay districts. The Christchurch out-side-grown tomatoes are late this year. Bon Chretien pears are now starting to come forward. Raspberries and loganberries are still in fair supply and prices reasonable. Now season’s apples arc coming forward from Nelson and Hastings, and are meeting with ready sales. Strawberries, red currants, and black currants are finished. French beans, peas, cabbage, and cauUllower are, coming forward, and prices are reasonable. The egg .market is firm, and any lines coming forward
arc readily taken up. New season’s honey is offering. Some first-class lines of while clover have come to hand, and the price is ruling round about hid per lb. Dairy pat blitter lias a good inquiry.
