"ENGLISH CRICKET AGAIN FAILS”
CRITIC ON SOUTH AFRICAN TOUR AUSTRALIAN PROSPECTS Tref* Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON. February it), (Received February 11, at 9.10 a.ra.) “After allowance for all excuses, the fact remains that English cricket, again failed,” says the ‘Daily Mail,’ chiefly because batsmen do not know how lo play fast bowling. Certainly the selectors did not regard South African cricket seriously, and did not attempt to collect a representative team; but England’s batting was disquieting. If South Africa was able lo do tin's, Heaven help us in Australia! Happily there is still time for younger players to discover that length and spin bowling pay best; also that the way to play fast bowling is to go forward. If Larwood’s knee recovers England will commence the tour of Australia with a tremendous asset. Australia does not possess a pair of bowlers equal to Tate and Larwood.—Sydney ‘Sun’ Cable.
