HARBOR FERRY MISHAP
STEAMER GROUNDS [Pea United Peess Association.] AUCKLAND, February 9. Passengers for Northcote and Birkenhead by the last boat from Auckland at midnight had an unusual and exciting experience before reaching their homes. The ferry steamer Kestrel, when attempting to berth at the Northcote jetty, missed the wharf, with the result that she stuck fast aground just outside the vehicular staging at Northcote wharf. The passengers were landed at Northcote in the ship’s dinghy, and the crew remained aboard all night. The Kestrel was got off under her own power this morning.
