TO-DAY'S GASH PRICES

The guide gives the cash prices in the city shops to-day.

Groceries: Sugar is now selling at 3£d lb, or at 17s 6d for a 701 b bag; jam sugar is priced at 18s 6d a 701 b bag; butter is Is 6d and Is 8d lb; eggs are Is 9d and Is IQd dozen; and flour is up to 10s 9d for 501 b bag, or 5s 8d for 251 b.

Meat prices remain unchanged. Mutton sells at from 2d to 7sd; beef, from 3d to 11 d; lamb, from 7d to lid.

Fish are plentiful, and the prices are;—Groper, 8d lb; kingfish, lOd; soles, 3s dozen; flounders, 4s dozen; blue cod, 10d lb; ling, 31b for Is; smoked ’couta, Is each; smoked red cod, from 4d each.

Vegetable prices are:—Local hothouse tomatoes, Is 3d; hothouse tomatoes, Is; outside tomatoes, 8d; Peninsula potatoes, 61b for Is; cabbage, 2d to 4d; cauliflowers, 4d to 8d; lettuce, 3d and 4d; cucumbers (hothouse), Is to Is 6d; butter beans, 6d; French beans, 6d; rhubarb, 3d; peas, 3d.

Fruit is selling at;—Bananas, 10 for Is; new season’s apples, 6d lb; Bon Cretion pears, 6d lb; Californian lemons, 3d each; Valencia oranges, 3 and 4 for 1s; Jaffa oranges, 3 for 1s; hothouse grapes, 3s 6d lb; dessert plums, 6d lb; cherry plums, 4d lb; cooking plums, 4d lb; grape fruit, 6d each; dessert peaches, 6d and 8d lb; cooking peaches, 4d lb; dessert apricots, 6d lb; cooking apricots, 4d lb.
