Quinn, transferred from Rotorua to take charge ol Nelson city, replacing the late Seniorsergeant Barrett. Sergeant J. J. Hogan, transferred from Hastings to Rotorua. Sergeant J. A. Dempsey, of Gisborne, is appointed senior sergeant in charge of the Hastings section. Sergeant G. A. Doggctt, ol Wellington, goes to Hastings as second sergeant, thus providing for increased stall and supervision at that town, which lias grown considerably lately. sergeant J. M‘.lntyre, of Auckland, replaces Sergeant Dempsey ut • Gisborne. Sergeant W. Cooper goes irony Hamilton to take charge ol the Spit station at Napier, thus improving the status ol that town. Constable J. G. Gallagher, of tho criminal registiation branch headquarters. is promoted to tho rank of sergeant, This constable is a qualified solicitor. Constable C. N. Anniss, of the Kingsland station, Auckland, is promoted to sergeant at the Auckland central station. Constable A. liissctl, of Kaitaia, is promoted to sergeant, and will take up duty in Wellington. Detective F. Culluty, of Hamilton, is promoted to sergeant, and takes up uniform duty, replacing Sergeant Cooper at Hamilton. Sergeant 0. P. M'Entcc, ol Dunedin, is assigned to take charge of the South Dunedin station, replacing Sergeant Leonard, who has retired. Constable D. Vaughan, of .Saseby, is promoted to sergeant, replacing Sergeant M'Entee at Dunedin, Sergeant C. R. Duke, of Wellington, replaces Senior-sergeant Whitcbouse at the Wharf station, Wellington. Constable D. C. Beard, of Greymnuth, is promoted to sergeant, and replaces Sergeant Duke at the central station, Wellington. Detective A. C. M‘Hngh, ef Auckland, is promoted to defective sergeant, and wiil remain in Auckland. Detective W. Tricklchank, of Wellington, is promoted to detective sergeant, and remains in Wellington. Detective F. J. Beer, of Dunedin, replaces Senior-detcctme Carroll, in charge of the detective staff, Invercargill. Detective A. J. White, of Auckland, replaces Detective Culloty at Hamilton. The promotions will take, effect as from March 1.
DUNEDIN OFFICERS CONCERNED. Detective F. J. Beer, who has been transferred from Dunedin to take charge of the Invercargill district (detective branch) has had 2LI years’ service in the force. He was sworn in at Wellington, and came to Dunedin as a constable, remaining in this city ever since. In 1913 he entered the plainclothes branch, and in 1919 was made a detective. Detective Beer was a member of tho party of police'who accompanied the Prince of Wales on his tour of the dominion, and was accorded the honor again when the Duke of- York visited us. Since 1913 he has, whenever the absence of the chief detective made it necessary, been in charge of the detective branch in Dunedin. Sergeant 0. P. M'Eutec, who -has been appointed to take charge of the South Dunedin police district, joined the force in 1907, and has remained in tho Dunedin district ever since. After two years at the central station he went to Port Chalmers for six years. Six years at North-east Valley followed, when he was again transferred to Dunedin and remained there until the present time. He was apnoiirSir sergeant in 1921.
