TOTALISATOR IN BRITAIN BILL TO BE INTRODUCED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, February 7. A single-clause Bill has .been prepared legalising, the tctalisator, its operation being limited to Britain, leaving Northern Ireland to deal with the question locally. The Bill must be introduced by a private member, and a large number of members of the House of Commons are balloting therefore in order to increase the chance of its introduction. There is some objection, owing to the fact that the Bill does not apply to dog racing. SPORTS MEETING AT NAPIER Jack Standen, the Australian champion cyclist, participated in the night carnival held by the Napier Amateur Club. Although making only his second appearance on a grass track, be performed well, particularly in the half-mile, which he covered _in Imin S 4-ssec, but vAts beaten for first place by a man to whom he conceded 85yds. In a scratch mile he finished third in a field of four, the winner being C. Sutton (Napier). Time, 2min 34. 2-ssec. Miss N. Wilson (Gisborne) made an effort to reduce the time for "the 100yds, but running against a fair breeze she could register only 12 l-ssec. CROQUET DOMINION TOURNEY.
