CENTRAL IRRIGATION
DUNEDIN BUSINESS MEN HOT APATHETIC
At a meeting of the executive of the Chamber of Commerce hold to-day, the president (Mr Jas. Taylor) referred to the question of irrigation in Central Otago, and stated that ho wished to give an omphalic denial to the idea that the business men of Dunedin wero indifferent to the welfare of Central] Otago. On the contrary, they were keenly alive to the potentialities of the Central, and were looking forward to the time when Otago Central would be the California of New Zealand. They realised that the welfare of tho city was hound up with that of tho country. They sympathised with tho many settlers who were disappointed owing to tho incomplete success of the lion schemes so far, hut they trusted that once tho present difficulties were overcome the future would justify the most sanguine expectations.
