BURNSIDE STOCK SALES
SOME FAIR YARDINGS.' The stock yarded at Burnside to-day included a good many pens of fat sheep. Generally > speaking, there was little fluctuation in tho values. Fat Sheep. -There were fair entries for this sale, tho number being 2,000. The proportion of ewes was fairly large, and there was a fair number of light prime wethers; also some heavy sheep, and a good sprinkling of plain stock. The demand was fairly quiet at about last sale’s values for wethers. Ewes, not being in very strong demand, were a shade cheaper. Prices: Extra heavy wethers, 32s 9d to 355; prime heavy, 29s 3d to 39s 6d; light, 24s 3d to 265; heavy owes, 27s to 295; prime ewes, 22s to 265; light, 13s to 15s. Fat Lambs.—The yarding totalled 550. The lambs presented contained some good quality, well-grown animals, and some penmngs were fairly heavy. A number lacked finish. There was a good demand, and tho usual buyers were on the market, the values being much on a par with those of last week. Prices: Prime heavy, 30s to 32s 6d; prime, 27s to 28s 9cl; medium, 22s to 265; unfinished, 18s to 21s.
Fat Cattle.—Tho pennings numbered 196. Animals of fair quality were yarded,_ about a-quarter of tho entry comprising medium to heavy cows, together with a moderate proportion of prime bullocks. The .sale was not commenced in lime for the prices to bo available for this evening’s ‘ Star,’ but it was anticipated that there would be a fair sale for prime bullocks at close on last week’s values. Store Cattle.—There was a smaller yarding than last week, the total being 250. This included alargo proportion of cows of various qualities, about fifty mixed yearlings, and thirty three-year-old bullocks. The demand was fair, matured steers being a few shillings cheaper than last week. Wellbred animals sold at round about £‘B IPs, and fair threc-vcar-olcls at from £7 10s to £B.
Pigs.—The yardii ;g was small, the numbers being 110 fats and ninety-five slips. Heavy-weight bacon pigs showed no improvement on the last sale; tho light-weight bacons and porkers were slightly firmer, but generally tho demand was dull. Stores met with an uneven demand, and were slow of sale.
