RIFLE SHOOTING
KAIT AN GAT A CLUB. Tlic Kailangata Defence liiflo Club fired the first. stage of Hie (lard competition for tho Lee Cup on Saturday, The conditions were only fair from a shooting point of view, a very light, variable breeze and extreme heat not being in the best interests of high scoring. Still, all competitors who had missed no shoots managed to improve on a previous score for the cup, the condilions for which are the six best out of nine scores added to a three-range final. For the championship J. H, Frazer still holds a good lead with 555 on, F. Carson 543, W. Carson and B. Kitto 541. being nearest. For the Lee Cup J. H. Frazer 383, R. Kitto 377, F. Carson 376, J. Kyle 574, W. Oliver 372, and T. Frazer 371 are the most prominent., though several others can easily come ,up among the leaders yet. Following arc the leading scores (limit 67):
