JUBILEE ATHLETIC MEETING
OAKLEY BEATS GROSE. Saturday night was the Wellington and Wanganui Clubs’ jubilee athletic meeting, which was held at Wellington. The gate takings totalled £228. In the cycle mile T. Oakley (Masterton) beat F. Grose and Oakley also won the three-mile cycle race. Miss N. "Wilson won the 50yds invitation handicap in 6 2-ssec, only slower than the existing world’s record. She also won the 100yds ladies scratch race in 11 2-ssec. Miss Swinburne being second. The Gisborne ladies retained the Etavereaux Cup, beating Wellington and "Wanganui by & 'R S W. Lander won the 120yds hurdles from sratch in lOscc, and also the 440yds hurdles. . . Wellington beat "Wanganui in the 440yds relay. „ ~ ~ In putting the shot P. Muuro, from scratch, did 42ft 9in.
