ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
BODY FOUND IN LAKE. The body of Horace Humphrey, who has been missing since January 27, was found in Lake Okareka. The body was naked, the man’s clothes being found neatly bundled under a hedge nearby.—Rotorua Press Association telegram. FATAL SWING ON GATE. Allan Joseph Williams, aged nine, on returning from Sunday school, was swinging on a gate chain hung between concrete pillars on a Panmure Road (Auckland) ‘residence. One post gave way, and Williams was fatally injured when a piece of concrete fell on his head.—Press Association. KILLED BY CAR. An elderly man, George Partridge, was knocked down by a motor car at the corner of Colombo street and Lichfield street, Christchurch, at 11.35 a.m. on Saturday, and died in Christchurch Hospital in the afternoon. There was considerable traffic at the intersection, and it is not clear how he came to be struck by the car, which, it is stated, was travelling slowly at the time.--—Press Association
