(Received February 4, at 10 a.m.) The Berlin correspondent of ‘The Times ’ states that a police detachment of the Reichswehr has formed a cordon around a wood in Coburg, in which an armed criminal named Hein has taken refuge. Hein is suspected of robberies and four _ murders. A police sergeant who jumped off a bicycle and attempted to arrest him was shot through the head, and Hein rode off on the bicycle. A second police officer overtook him and Hein took ambush in a ditch, exchanging a fusillade until the ammunition was exhausted. Hein, who was thought to be wounded, escaped. He and an accomplice raided a post, office, at Christmas time, :and, shot .'.two officials. The accomplice (Larm) was arrested. Hein afterwards shot two policemen who were trying to arrest him, one being killed.—‘The Times.’
