MARKETING BOARD’S GIFT [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, February 4. Arising out of a request made by the Scientific Research Council, the Empire Marketing Board has offered to grant the sum of £2,500 towards the cost of establishing plant-breeding and seeds research work in New Zealand. In addition, the board is prepared to contribute £3,500 annually for a period of five years towards the cost of maintenance and running costs of these researches. , , This announcement was made by the Prime Minister, who added that the experiments probably would be carried out at the Massey Agricultural College, and would embrace breeding selection, treatment against diseases of grasses and th% other crops of the dominion. ' , ■ ~ , r , “ Negotiations, said Mr _ Coates, “ are in progress with the Agricultural Department and the Agricultural College Councils, with a view to arranging the details necessary for carrying out the work,”
