The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., has received the following cablegram from London, under date Ist instantAs compare;} with last sales’ closing rates, prices are higher lor about par to 5 per cent, for merino scoured, lambs’ merino, greasy merino. Higher about 5 per cent, to 7) per cent, for crossbred lambs’, fine greasy cross-bred; 6 per cent, fine scoured cross-bred; to 10 per cent., coarse greasy crossbred; 30 per cent, to 15 per cent., medium greasy cross-bred; 7| per cent., slipe cross-bred, cross-bred medium scoured, cross-bred coarse scoured. Competition continues spirited; America is buying suitable lots of crossbred. The sales closed firmly to-day.” The Otago Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Ltd., has received the following cable from London: —“Wool 'sales "closed to-day. Prices compared with opening rates: Merinoes unchanged, fine cross-breds par to 5 per cent up, medium cross-breds 5 per cent, up, , coarse cross-breds unchanged; steady.” DOMINION BUILDING SOCIETY. The directors of the Dominion Building Society met recently, and in a review of the position for 1927 it was shown that very satisfactory progress is being made. In the two groups then in operation £22,700 had been balloted during the year, making the total ballots £34,700. First mortgage loans on repayment principle’ now amounted to £21,080. It was decided to credit interest on subscriptions for the year at the rate of 6 per cent, on group 26 and 5 per cent, on group 27, and in addition a bonus of one shilling per share. Arrangements were made to hold the second annual meeting on Monday, February 27, and at the same meeting to ballot £12,000 in the various groups. The response for members for the new group, which commenced on January 1 has been so satisfactory that it was decided to ballot £I,OOO in group 28, and all members now joining will participate in this. BUTTER AND CHEESE., The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, has received the following cable from London, under date February 2:—“Butter: New Zealand salted, 160 s to 1625; market is firm. Small supplies momentarily available. Cheese, 91s to 925; market is steady.” SALES ON ’CHANGE: THIS DAY.
