OFFICIAL RECORDS OF JANUARY, HALF A DEGREE HOTTER THAN LAST YEAR Acknowledgments are due to Mr IX Taunock for an early summary of the meteorological records for January at the Opoho observatory station, which furnishes tho returns for tho ‘ Official Year Book.’ The mean maximum temperature was 69.32. In January of last ybar 70. The mean minimum temperature 52.48. The previous January 50.7. Tho mean temperature for the month 60.90. Last year 60.40. The rainfall was 1.58 in on nine days. Last year 3.18 on fifteen days. The weatherwise will note that the latest published official records at Dunedin covering a period of fifty-nine years show the mean maximum temperature in January as 66.3, the mean minimum as 49.6, and the mean temperature as 58, whilst the mean rainfall for seventy years is set down at 3.34ip on 14.2 days.
