SOUGHT RELIEF WITH £354 IH BANK [Pek United Tkess Association.} CHRISTCHURCH. September 20. Mallaek Joseph Dohncy, a single man of fifty' years, pleaded guilty to-day to being a rogue and vagabond in that, between June 11 and August 2S, he imposed on the Citizens’ Relief Depot by false representations, so obtaining food and clothing. The police evidence showed that accused had £334 in the savings bank at the time when he applied lor and secured £2 10s in relief and goods. The defence was that the man had been unemployed and thought he was entitled to relief
After the case had been adjourned for a time the magistrate said accused would be convicted and ordered to come up for sentence, provided ho paid £lO to the unemployment fund.
