TARIFF DISSATISFACTION
DEPUTATION TO WELLINGTON DUNEDIN MANUFACTURERS CONCERNED Approximately 10,000 employees in the various local industries were represented by the employers who attended the special meeting of the Dunedin Manufacturers’ Association yesterday afternoon to ( discuss the tariff, when Air T. Somerville presided. General dissatisfaction was expressed with the new tariff proposals as a whole, on the ground that no policy of assistance to the secondary industries had been promulgated, despite the many representations to the Minister of Customs on the subject, and the encouraging attitude of the Minister and members of the Government to the representations put forward. A large number of written statements were submitted to the meeting by members of the association showing
