ARTHUR BARRETT, LTD.'S BALL

Business cares were forgotten in a whirl of pleasure by the staff of Arthur Barnett, Ltd., on Saturday night. The annual nail is an event eagerly looked for by the staff, and Mr Barnett gave them perhaps a happier time than usual by inviting tho big staff to his home at Idighgatc. Mr and Mrs Barnett made every effort to make . the 201) guests “ at home,” and a happy night was spent. The dancing took place m the big marquee erected on the lawn. The effect was picturesque and colorful, the white, orange, and blue streamers making a pretty canopy, tho whole effect being enhanced by the _ multicolored lights. The floor was in fine order, and a band of four instruments provided the music. Mr Geoffrey Barnett was M.C. Sapper was served from an adjoining marquee, and the staff wore regaled with delicacies between the dances. An injoyablo interlude was the singing of the (inn’s choir and the songs by Misses Pratt ami Ashton. During the supper interval Mr S. Lawn expressed the staff gratitude of Mr Barnett’s kindness, especially in" inviting them to bis homo, and lie assured the firm of the unfailing loyalty of all.
