TURF IN AUSTRALIA. EPSOM SCRATCH INGS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, September If). Rooster and The Hawk have been ■scratched for the Epsom Handicap and The Ranker for the Caulfield Cup. LADIES’ HOCKEY. THE RECENT TOURNAMENT. It is unofficially reported (says a Palmerston North Press Association telegram) that the recent New Zca,land ladies' tournament, will result m a financial loss. At a meeting of Iho Manawutn Association last night dissatisfaction was expressed with the constitution of the Management Committee, which allowed an association having a minority representation to conduct a tournament, thus giving the committee practically no say in (ho running of a tournament, the expenses of which it had to hear. It was stated that the managers of visiting teams wore thus able to work things as they thought lit, and 100 many of them did not do enough work, the Manawiitn Association being the last people to bo considered. It was eventually decided to scud (he following remit to (ho New Zealand Association: —“That at lufni'o dominion tournaments there should bo two local representatives and one New Zealand representative on the. Management Committee, none of them to be managers or referees.”
