KING OF HOTEL THIEVES
CAREER CUT SHORT ONE THOUSAND ROBBERIES. Tress Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. PARIS, September 18. (Received September 19, at J. 5 p.m.) Curiosity cut short the career of the “ king of hotel thieves,” Armand Caulicr, who offered comment on a motor smash. Tim police enlisted him as a witness, and discovered that he was the man they had been searching for for twenty years, during which time he now confesses that he carried out 1,000 robberies in the best hotels: in France. In his pockets were 133 of his victims’ identity cards, which had hitherto been used to prove alibis and to facilitate entrance to hotels. Caulicr was suspected of a famous haul of £200,000 worth of jewellery at Deauville some years ago. Ho admits that he recently robbed a foreign prince in Paris.
