MOTOR CYCLE SKIDS
ONE MAN KILLED (Pm United Press Association.] CARTERTON, September li). A fatal accident occurred at Cross Creek on the Feathersion road on Saturday at 7.30 p.m. Three men— Keg, .Haylock (train tester), William Monteith'(engine driver), and N. Doohan (laborer). all employed by the Railway Department at Cross Creek, were' returning from Fcatherston on Haylock’s motor cycle and sidecar. Haylock was driving Monteith in the sidecar, and Doohan was pillar riding. Proceeding along the road they met a motor lorry, ami when passing the loose metal caused the cycle to skid, and it turned into the lorry. Haylock and Doohan were knocked off, the former falling between the cycle and the side car. It is thought that both men knocked their heads on the. lorry. They were picked up and taken to the Greytown Hospital, where Haylock died at 3.30 yesterday. Doohan’s condition is still considered serious. Monteith escaped! injury
