KNOX SUNDAY SCHOOL
YESTERDAY’S JUBILEE SERVICES In connection with the semi-jubilee celebrations of Knox Church Sunday School, a series of special services were hold yesterday in the church and in the school itself. Jn tho morning the Rev. R. E. Davies addressed a. large church congregation on ‘ The Gosped for a Changing Age.’ He spoke on tho principles of life in tho lives of Christians, and explained how religion had adapted itself to the changing thought of various generations. At the Sunday school in tho afternoon the Rev. Professor ,V. Hewitson spoke on ‘Jesus the Roy and His Love for tho Temple.’ After the service about 180 ex-teachers of the Sunday school were welcomed by the present staff, and a number of them made reminiscent addresses to an interested audience. A letter was road out from Mr J. J. Clark, who was tho secretary of tho school when it was first built. Also, a telegram w J as received from Mr W. T. Todd, who for many years was the school’s .superintendent. The Rev Tulioch Yuillc took as the subject of his evening sermon in the church ‘ Heedless Abandon Before God,' an address delivered for the benefit of tho young people. It was announced that the jubilee thankofferhig Would bo received after tho communion service next Sunday. SATURDAY’S FUNCTIONS. A most successful concert was given on Saturday afternoon in the Sunday school, the items being provided almost entirely hy members of tho Otago University branch of the Students’ Christian Union, who were heartily thanked by the Rev. Tulioch Yuiilo for the efforts they had made on behalf of Knox Church. Mr M. Wilson, on behalf of tlie students, said tho Knox Chi” eh Session and Deacons’ Court had been .staunch friends of tho Christian Union, and members wore glad of an opportunity to do .something in return. He wished" the church every success in Ihe second half of its jubilee period. Tho programme was as follows: —Solo, 1 Set Your Sails,’ Miss Eva Graham; recitation, ‘Carry On.’ Mr A. Gome: ipiartct, Misses ami Taylor and Messrs Hollow and Hamilton; song, Mr R. Byers; song, Mr L. A. North; interlude, Knox; College students’ one-act play, Misses Ray, Hervey, and Thompson; song, Miss A. Young; song. Mr A. Perrv. Miss Williams was the accomnanist.
