MOSGIEL ANGLICAN CHURCH

• ANNUAL BAZAAR. The Anglicans of Mosgicl were favored with a beautiful afternoon and evening for the opening day of their annual bazaar, which commenced on Thursday. The attendance of the public was good. The bazaar was olKcially openend by the mayor (Mr Walls) in an appropriate speech, and ids remarks were endorsed by the vicar (the Lev. , AV. W. Ewart). There was music in 1 plenty, both the local bands being in 1 attendance. Sumo spectacular marches and many pretty dances wore staged by a band of about sixty young ladies. Their entortaiiinfent drew many rounds of applause from the audience. The solo dances were given by Misses Loris Kovalevski, Maggie Gall, Ilona, Beale, Gibson, and lloss. Pipe-major Gibson supplied I,he nimdc tor the dances, and. the Municipal Band for i tho marches. Miss CJhcyne played the accompaniment for tho singing. Mr Butcher was responsible for the working of the spotlights and colored lighting effects. Tho stalls wore attractively arranged around the hall, a display that reflected credit on tho ladies in charge. The stalls wore controlled as follow: Produce—Misses AVaslcbeu and Guuton and Messrs Butcher and Tourell. Pancy and plain stall—Mesdamcs Clark and Grant. Sweets—-Mrs and Miss Harrison. Cakes —Mrs M'Auslin. Novelty stall—Misses Cheyno and Ewart. Flower stall—Misses Wilson. Tea rooms—Mesdames Henderson, Scuit, Mason, and Wilson. Fortune telling—Mrs AYilson. Dips—Miss Biggins. Flower girls—Missus Allan and Johnson. Games —Messrs A. F. and F. Cheyno. Guessing—Tho Misses Burleigh. Mr AVaslebcii made an efficient secretary Thu entertainment was repeated last night with equal success. In addition to the solo dancers of the first night Master Scurr danced a Highland fling. Miss Harrison accompanied tho singing, the band tho marches, and Piper Gibson the dances. A tug-of-war was also held, when six teams entered. _ In the first pull Taieri I County Council employees beat the harvesters, the fire brigade beat the ! footballers, and the taxi drivers heat the Pipe Baud. In the final pull the Taieri County beat the taxi drivers, and Inter pulled the fire brigade and beat them.
