Mr S. A. Orchard returned to Tim aru by to-day’s express. Mr A J. Benzie, of the ‘Press, 1 Christchurch, is on a short visit to Dunedin.

Mr 11. L. Tapley, M .P., was a passenger by the second express to-day for' Wellington to resume his Parliamentary duties.

Mr A. E. Wilson, district tourist manager, left for Wellington to-day to attend a conference of dominion tourist agents. Probably the best known figure in primary schools in Auckland, Mr F. Oldson, this week forwarded his resignation to the Education Board to lake effect at the end of the year. He is at present headmaster of the Manngawhau School, and has given over forty years painstaking service to education in the Auckland district. In addition, lie has developed one of the finest and most modem schools of the dominion, besides rendering invaluable aid ’to several branches or sport, particularly Rugby, tennis, cricket, raid golf, in all of which “ Curly’s ” name is a dominion household word.—Auckland correspondent. Recent arrivals to the Grand Hotel include Messrs K. S. Thompson, A. S. Horsley, and L. Miller ('Auckland), Mr H. Kemp (Wellington), Messrs J, B. Ferguson and C. E. Brown (Palmerston North), Mr and Mrs J. Rennie and Mr C. White (Christchurch), Mr C. Milner (Nelson), Mr Sydney Smith (Queenstown), Mr A. R. Paterson (Rivcrsdale), and Mr and Mrs G. Keddell (Invercargill). . New visitors to the City Hotel include Mrs S. T. Spain and Mr S. T. Spain, jun. (Earnscleugh), Mrs >!hin Macalistcr (Invercargill), Mrs P. Leonard (Featherston). Mr ,F. M. Lawson (Tapanui), Mrs T. Curtis (Queenstown), and Mrs J. Anderson. Among the guests staying at the Excelsior Hole hire Messrs J. Wnddop, H. Valentine, G. H. Davis (Wellington), Mr and Mrs Dodds, Miss Dodds, Miss Bussell (Christchurch), Mr E. E. Hassell (Tamiru), Mr T. Blanchard (Roxburgh), .Mr J, Parcell (Cromwell), Mr S. M'Donald (Invercargill).
