(Received September 17, at 10.33 a.m.) The Acting Minister of Labor (Mr Cruick shank) has approved of a scheme of compensation for stonemasons, quarry men, rock choppers, _and_ sewer miners who contract silicosis in the course of their employment. The scheme provides that until a joint committee (to be _ appointed) iixos the rates of subscription, all employers employing such workmen shall pay into a fund a subscription equal to 5 per cent, of the wages actually paid to the workmen.
