BOYS’ CRICKET

OTAGO ASSOCIATION. The annual report of the Otago Boys’ Cricket Association, which will be presented at the annual meeting on Tuesday next, states; The past season has again from many points been quite a successful one, and has revealed that there is quite a wealth of cricketing talent awaiting development in the boys_ of Dunedin. As usual great enthusiasm was shown by the various competing teams, competition f or places in the representative teams was very keen. 'The senior competition, carrying with it .the Hudson, Ltd., shield, was won by the Christian Brothers, with High School F rnn-uers-np. The junior competition, for the llotary Club Shield was won by Christian Brothers, with the M'Glashan College runnere-np. The executive extends its hearty congratulations lo the ‘winners. Twelve senior and six junior teams entered for the competition. There is still room for a considerable increase in the number of learns entered, and it is hoped that, old cricketers in such suburbs as Kaikorai, Mornington, Opoho, Maori Hill, North-east Valley, and Anderson’s Bay will rally round and form teams in the locations mentioned. There is .still plenty of room for improvement in the condition of the grounds, especially Bathgate Park, which, owing to lato top-dressing and drainage, him not provided the wickets anticipated. The balance-sheet shows a fair credit, but as there will be considerable expense with the visiting teams the committee will have to appeal to the generosity of its supporters.
