Tho president, Mr Darling, extended a hearty welcome to tlie visitors. The toast of tho Master Tailo rs ’’ was proposed by the secretary. Air Wilson, who referred to the excellent, feeling existing between the employers and employees. The old spirit of antagonism had disappeared, and all parties were now working for the henolit of the eralt. All disputes had been settled in a friendly manner without going to the Arbitration Court, and so far as the tailoring trade was concerned, it mattered little what alterations were made in the Conciliation and Arbitration Act. He advocated greater power being given to the Conciliation Councils. Mr A. Martin, president.of tho Master Tailors, in responding, thanked the union for the way tho toast had been received. The muon’s demands had at all times been fair and reasonable, and lie was pleased indeed at the way the members of Hie union were co-operat-ing in endeavoring to bring about more satisfactory conditions tor the eralt. He, wished" Hie union continued success, and trusted that the present relationship between employers and employees would long continue. The toast of the ‘‘Tailors’ Union” was proposed by Air Martin, and spoken to by Messrs Munro, Smith, M‘Grao, Jenkins, and Brown, all of whom congratulated the union on its long and prosperous career. Mr D. J. Millar, a past president of the union, responded and contrasted the present with the early days of the union, when it was difficult to get employers to meet the employees to discuss any question. Tho present employers in the trade were very fair minded, and were at all times ready and willing to meet the anion on any matter affecting the craft. Harmony was contributed by Messrs G. Ansell," J. N. Wilton, G.' Hcndy, and Anderson, while Mr Norman Bachop made a most efficient accompanist.
