(10.10 p.m.), 2,625 tons, Reed, for Auckland via ports. Waipiata, s.s. (midnight), 2,826 tons, Elders, for Auckland via ports. The Kurow sailed last night lor Lyttelton to load for Wellington and Auckland. , . The Waipiata left at midnight last evening for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Auckland. The Kahika, from Westport, was clue at 0 o’clock this afternoon. She is to sail on Tuesday for Bluff. The Wingatni was expected to leave Wellington to-day for Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due here on Sunday, and is to load out on Monday lor Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. The Karetu left Wellington yesterday for Lyttelton and Dunedin, and is duo here on Tuesday. The Storm, which arrived yesterday afternoon from Lyttelton, is lo sail tonight lor Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, ami Wanganui. Thi Breeze has been fixed to load here on Monday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. The Orient liner Ostcrlc.v, Jrom Sydney via Colombo, is cine at Plymouth on September 28 and at London the next day. THE FERRY SERVICE. The Maori, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at (3.t0 a.m. to-day, anil passengers and mails connected with the 12.20 express. SCOW' ALWIN (j. FOUNDERED. Loaded with 79 tons of sand Jrom Waipn, the scow Ahvin U. foundered on Monday night at tho Nelson street wharf (Auckland). She was lound tho next morning completely submerged, but when the tide foil the cargo was still on board. It was hoped to have it discharged before it was again covered by the tide. 'J lie cause of the vessel's sinking is not definitely known, but it is surmised that the weight of the cargo strained her. There was nobody aboard at IJ to time. MATATUA LEAVES MONTEVIDEO. Cable advice has been received slating that tho Matatua, which sailed from Auckland on August 19 tor London via Montevideo and Tencrille. sailed from Montevideo last Sunday morning in continuation of her voyage. MARINE CASUALTIES. The Sydneys .Marine Underwriter have received a. cable advising Unit the City of Rayville, homeward bound From Australia, lias been in collision with another vessel off Gibraltar. She was leafing in No. 2 hold, but the water was under control. Part ol the cargo* was .jettisoned prior to arrival at Gibraltar. Another cable states that the Nirvana, which was leaking, is still at Aden, where sonic of her cargo of wheat has been discharged, .so that the leak can be located. Damaged cargo also is to be landed. NEWCASTLE COAL SHIPMENTS. The quantity of coal (including bunkers) shipped at Newcastle during tbo week ended September 2, jor places beyond tho .State was 102,519 tons, of which 50,.'120 tons represented .shipments for Commonwealth and New Zealand ports, the remainder being lor foreign ports. For the corresponding period last year the total was 90,558 tons. HCHOUWEN DUE SUNDAY. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the steamer Schouwen. from Sydney (Cape Breton), Cornerbrook, Montreal, Newport News, and northern ports, is expected at Dunedin on Sunday to discharge a quantity of Canadian cargo. They vessel will sail early next week for Sydney. TALNUI SAILED. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Line steamer Tainui left Port Chalmers yesterday afternoon for Lyttelton to complete discharge of her London cargo and continue Homeward loading. The vessel will ' subsequently load also at Napier, Waikokopu, and Wellington. The Tainui is due at Wellington on September .27, and will sail from there at daybreak on October 2 lor Southampton and London via Panama canal. THE SUSSEX. Tho Union Company advises that the Sussex, from Calcutta, Penang, Singapore, and Samarang via northern ports, was to leave Auckland last night for Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, and Bluff. She is expected here about tho end of hexv. week.

September 16—Arrived: Pan a (7.15 a.m.), from Timaru. LYTTELTON, September 15— Sailed: Canadian Challenger (3.30 p.m.), for Timaru; Gale (4.30 p.m.), for Wellington ;Totara (4.15 p.m.), for Wellington. September 16—Arrived: Holmdale (5.50 a.m.), from Timaru; Tainui (7.20 a.m.), from Port Chalmers; Opihi (7.5 a.m.), from Timaru. OAMARU, September 16.—Arrived: Waipiata (6 a.m.), from Dunedin.
