Forecast. Tho Dominion Meteorologist (Mr D. C. Bates) supplied tho following at noon to-day;—The indications aro for westerly moderate to strong winds, freshening, and hacking by west to south; expect changeable and showery weather; the barometer lias a falling tendency, but rising shortly; tides aood, sea rough. The Kurow, which arrived this morning alter being delayed by log, is to sail Ibis evening for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. Tho Waipiuta was expected to come out of dock at Port Chalmers early this afternoon to load this evening lor Oamaru, Timani, Lyttelton, Wellington, Pietou, and Auckland. Tho Kahika, from Westport direct, is due to-morrow. She will then proceed to Bluff to complete discharge," returning here on Tuesday to load lor Nelson and Gisborne via. ports. Tho Karelu was expected to leave Wellington to-day for Lyttelton, Oamani, Dunedin, and Bluff. The Storm is duo to-night from Lyttelton, and is In sail to-morrow for Tirnaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, f’icton, and Wanganui. The Breeze is due on Sunday Irom Kaikoura, to load on Monday lor Wanganui via ports. THE FERRY SERVICE. The Waitine, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 6.4(3 a.m. to-day, ami passengers and mails connected with tho 8.50 express. MOVEMENTS OF WARSHIPS. H.M.S. Dunedin 101 l Auckland on Monday afternoon on a cruise to southern ports. The warship will proceed first to the West Coast Sounds and then to Dunedin, Timani, Akaroa, Lyttelton, and Wellington. H.M.S. Diomede, whieh is undergoing overhaul and refitting at Auckland, is io come out of dock next- I' nday. On September 30 she will also leave on n cruise in southern ■waters. Ports she is to visit are Dunedin, Lyttcllon, Akaroa, and Wellington. Tho Dunedin and Diomede will be in company at Lyttelton, Akaroa. and Wellington. Both warships arc to leave Wellington on November 23. H.M.S. Laburnum and H.M.S. \ cromea. which aro cruising in the Western Pacilic, are both at Fiji. 'lhe Laburnum is due hack at Auckland about, Odoher 36 ami the. Veronica on October 24.

I.YTTELTON FERRY WHARF. Improvements lane been completed to (he fen'y wharf at Lyttelton which will enable cargo to bo worked in all weathers. The covered portion o( the wharf has been extended in two places out over tho railway line so as to atford shelter for open trucks, and large, shelter walls have also been creeled on the exposed end of the platform. The work has been carried out by (he Hallway Department, the Lyttelton Harbor Board contributing to Hie cost. vSGHUrWKN FROM MONTREAL. The si earner Srliouwcn, under charter to the New Zealand Shipping Company. is expected at Lyttelton to-mor-row from .Montreal via North Island ports. She is due at Dunedin on Tuesday next to discharge a Quantity ol Canadian cargo. CARGO FROM LIVER POOL, The Shaw. Savill, and Albion Company advise.-, that the Athenie is to leave Liverpool on October 18 with cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Pori, Chalmers. Tim vessel should arrive at Auckland about November 25. lONIC WITH PASSENGERS, The Shaw, Savill Line steamer lonic is scheduled to leave Southampton on October 23 for Wellington, Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and Bluff with passengers and cargo. Tho vessel is due at Wellington on November 2S In land passengers only. KENT AT AUCKLAND. Messrs Turnbull, Martin, and Co. advise that the Kent, from Liverpool, arrived at .Auckland this morning. The vessel will also discharge her cargo at Wellington, l,yttcltou, Dunedin, and New Plymouth. She is duo at this port on October 2. CANADIAN SCOTTISH. Messrs H- To Tapley and Co. advise that the Canadian Scottish passed through tho Panama canal on Sunday last. The vessel is from Montreal, and is bound for Auckland. Wellington. Lyttelton, Tirnaru. and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on October 8, and; at Dunedin on October 20.
THE MELBOURNE SERVICE. The - Union Company advises that tho Manuka left Melbourne at 10 a.m. yesterday for Wellington, Lvttcltou, Dunedin, and 3JJutt. She is due at Wellington on Monday, and at Dunedin on Thursday. Tho vessel will sail from here the following day. SAILING'S FROM LOS ANGELES. Messrs Turnbull. Martin, and Co. advise that the West Ivan will sail from Los Angeles in place of the West Hensbaw on October 35 tor New Zealand ports. The vessel is due at Auckland on November S). Her other unloading ports will bo Wellington, Nelson, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. _ She should reach here on December 5. The West Calera will now take the place of tho Beurpnrt-, sailing from Los Angeles on November 5 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and New Plymouth. She is due to arrive at Auckland on December 1, and hero on December 24. C. AND D. LINE STEAMERS. Messrs J. W. Swilt and Co. advise that tho Port Hunter is now loading a# Gisborne, and is later to go to Auckland to complete for London via Cape" Horn. She is to sail Irom Auckland finally about Tuesday, Tho Port Caroline, now loading at .Auckland, is to go to Wellington to complete for London via Cape Horn. She is also to sail about September 20.
