TO-AIOUROWS CHANGE. Comedy in Clara. Bow’s liveliest manner is the chief ingredient in the Elinor Glyu screen adaption ‘ it,’ coming to the Umpire Theatre to-morrow. A diosen east enacts the story of ‘ It ,’ which deals with Betty Lon and her chnnis at the Waltham Department Store. They arc discussing Elinor Glynn’s ' Cosmopolitan Magazine’ story ‘ It,’ when Cyrus Waltham and his chum, Monty, walk through. Thu salesgirl congress immediately decides that their now manager ha.s It. That evening, Betty passes Waltham and Monty on the street, and drops her bag. Monty is smitten, and when Cyrus departs catches up to Betty and asks her to dinner. She accepts, hut specifics the Bit/, as their destination. Bettv is earing for a sick friend and her child. Molly (the sick friend) tells of n, welfare home which wants to take the inlaid, hut Betty determines to take care of them till Molly regains her health. Monty tries to steer her to a secluded fable, hut Betty will sit in po seat but the one adjoining Cyrus. She sets out to fascinate, and accomplishes her purpose. Several days later two settlement workers attempt to take Molly’s baby away. In desperation, Betty claims the child as hers, and proves that she can support it. Monty nears this, and finds it liard to believe. Babbling of women’s deecitfujness, he tells Waltham everything. In addition to this, a. newspaper story appears. In the story Betty learns that she is a winner in the monthly sales competition. Going in 'Waltham’s office lor her bonus, she is crushed by his piititnde. Upset by her supposed infidelity, Cyrus plans a trip on his yacht. Monty comes to Betty with ;i peaceoffering. She furiously tells him that ho will have to help her tench his friend a lesson. She will compel him to propose and the.i reject the offer. The yacht parly lias an unexpected guest, who soon wins everyone with her charm. Onlv one woman takes dislike to Betty --Adela Van Norman, Cyrus’s society fiancee. Then Cyrus proposes to Betty, and she laughs in his face._ But on turning a corner she bursts into Tears. Longing for solitude, Waltham takes the wheel. Monty finds him there, and describes Betty’s condition. He thrusts the wheel in Monty’s hand and dashes after her. Knowing nothing about navigation, the ship, under Monty’s guidance, hits another. Adela is thrown overboard, and-' Betty goes after her. Cyrus and Monty attempt to pull the two girls in, but Betty starts swimming toward home.. Waltham catches her. and the picture fades out as they cling to the ship’s anchor, making up their differences with a kiss.
