Messrs J- P- Northey and C. Sew Hoy, manage® of jbe second grade representative team, reported their appreciation of the conduct of every member and of the good game put up by the Otago boys against Canterbury. The score of 1-1 was an indication of the standard of the teams of both provinces. They also conveyed their appreciation for the Otago Association’s assistance. Mr W R. Gibson, manager of the schoolboys’ Hatch Cup team, also forwarded a report on his team, and said that, considering hockey had only this year been established in the public schools, and as only three members had played before, the score 1-1 eertaiply impressed the necessity of encouraging the game in schools and of coaching the players. The team’s behaviour was excellent, and it was hoped that next year a bold bid would be made by Otago for tbo cup. The statement of costs of the Canterbury visit was confirmed, and thanks passed to the managers of both teams for their full reports and their services. A letter of thanks is to bo sent to the Canterbury Association for billeting all the schoolboys and for the excellent arrangements made for the teams' entertainments.

A ground was allotted to Training College and High School Old Boys for their match on Saturday. The executive welcomed Mr N. N. Edson back from his recent Australian _ trip as Otago’s representative m the New Zealand 'team. He gave an interesting account of the tour. He mentioned the excellent grounds of all the Australian centres, and said that the game was a very strong and nourishing one in the inland districts of New South Wales and Victoria, more so than in Melbourne and Sydney.
