PIGEON FLIGHTS
'The Dunedin Homing Pigeon (dub (lew a Hock race last Saturday from Christchurch, an airline distance oi 393 miles, ft was a fine day, and the lards put up a good ily. They were liberated at 9.30 a.m. and timed in at 1.40, completing the distance in 4h lOmin. The station master (Mr Lowry) liberated 320 birds from eighteen lolls, with tho following results (in yards per minutes: —Id. Murray’s Limerick (1,400), 1; J. Seoullar’s Countersign (1,399), 2; F. Jones’s Surrey Girl (3,398), 3; Conley and Ranger’s Miss Conran (1,3%), 4; A. Turnbull’s Confederacy (1,3943, 5. Birds entered by Messrs J. Ilardgravcs, R. Donaldson, L. Tonks, C. Oliver, A. Gillan, R. Millard, A. Stevenson, R. Parker, J. Still, E. Diehl, Kelly and Hargreaves, Ponsford and Watson and A. Brown also flew.
