The Opihi arrived tiiis morning from Tiniaru, and is timed to sail to-night after loading general cargo lor Wellington, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Westport via ports. The Waipinta was due at 3 o cock tiiis afternoon from Auckland and Lyttelton. After discharge she will go to Port Chalmers to dock, returning on Thursday to load for Oamaru, Tnnarn, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. The Wiugatui sailed troni Auckland •at 7 o’clock last night for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due hero on Sunday. Tito Gale sailed lust night for Wanganui via ports. The Kaltika is scheduled to leave Westport at 12 to-night for Dunedin and Blulf.
At 4 o’clock this afternoon the Katina was to leave Port Chalmers for Bluff. ... .
The Storm is duo on Wednesday night from Lyttelton, and is to sail on Thursday for Tiniaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. The Federal Line steamer Tongariro is scheduled to leave Liverpool on September 17 lor Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. Site is duo at tlio northern port about October 27. The Progress should arrive here on Thursday from Wellington to load lor Port Waikato via [torts. The Holmdalo was to get away today for 'Wanganui via [torts. The Kaiapoi was due at Fremantle on Saturday. From there the vessel proceeds to Bnnbiiry to load timber. The vessel is to leave (he West Australian port on September 21 for Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton via Hobart.
The American steamer West Conob was expected to leave San Pedro on Saturday with cargo from Pacific Coast ports for discharge at Auckland, Melbourne, Sydney, and Port Moresby. She i.s duo at Auckland on October •). The Pnolta is to sail from Clarence River to-day from Port Stephens anu Newcastle to complete loading a cargo of timber for Now Plymouth, Wellington. and Greymouth. Site will sail from Newcastle cm September 17. The Karotu, which left Sydney on 'Friday for 'Wellington. Lyttelton, Oamaru, Dunedin, and Blulf,_ is bringing transhipments ex the Tourcoing, Moldavia. She will unload the local portion ol her cargo at tho Western wharl, and will then probably go south to oomueto discharge. She is expected here about September 24. .MARGARET W. ARRIVES. The auxiliary four-masted schooner, Margaret W..'arrived at Auckland at t. o’clock on Friday morning from P.ovt Stephens and berthed at noon to commence discharging her timber cargo. After a stay of ten days at Port Stephens. where she loaded iron bark poles and sleepers, the vessel left the Australian. port last Wednesday. She experienced moderate weather across the Tasman, slight variable winds prevailing The Margaret YV. took ten days to come across, which is considered to he very fair sailing time by the commander, Captain A. F. Watehlin. Alter completing discharge at Auckland the Margaret YV. proceeds to a northern pert to load for Australia again. CANADIAN SEIGNEUR THROUGH PANAMA. Advice received by the Canadian Government Line agency stales that the Canadian Seigneur arrived at Panama on September 7 from Auckland, and passed through the camd the same day, on route to New York, Boston, and Montreal. Tho vessel left Auckland on August 10.
THE FERRY SERVICE. Tho Wahine. from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 7.10 a.m. to-day, and passengers and mails connected with the 8.50 express. YVESTMORELAND ARRIV ED. Tho Federal Line’s steamer YY'cstmorcland was expected to arrive at Dunedin at 5 o’clock this evening. The vessel left Liverpool on July 11, and arrived at Colon on June 26. She passed through the canal on the same day, and with the exception of a few days’ bad weather about ten days from Auckland, had a favorable run across the Pacific. She brought cargo for discharge at Auckland, YYXllington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. ‘Captain H. YV. Gardner is in command, and with him are the following officers:—Chief officer, Mr C. J. It is expected that the YVestmorelnnd will go to Port Chalmers about Sunday to load for London. CANADIAN CARGO. Tho Queen Eleanor arrived at Sydney (Cape Breton) on September 7 to continue loading for Auckland, YYellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, _ Bluff, Melbourne, and Sydney. She will complete loading at Montreal, and is expected to leave that port on September 24. CITY OF BATAVIA. Messrs Turnbull, Marlin, and Co. report having received a _ radio _ message from tho City of Batavia. _ stating that the vessel expects to arrive at Auckland on Thursday afternoon from New York. Tho vessel will also discharge Iter cargo at YY’elliiigton, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Blulf. She is due here on September 28. From Dunedin site will go to Bluff, Hobart, and Buniio. THE CANADIAN CHALLENGER. Messrs H. L. Ttiploy and Co. advise that tho Canadian Challenger is now expected at Dunedin on Saturday from Monlreal via northern ports. After discharge of the local portion of Iter cargo she will sail on Monday for Bluff, Wellington, and Auckland to complete loading for New York. Boston, and Montreal. SCOW LENA RETURNS. ’fhe small scow Lena, which capsized in the Firth ol Thames on August 20, returned to Auckland on YY cdnesday last and wont on slip on Shoal Bay to undergo repairs. Captain Kas- ( per, who was in command at the time, ■ ij.d his engineer had a narrow escape j from drowning. At the time of t lie accident tho Lena was bound for Auckland with a full cargo of Coromandel granite. The Lena is a ketch-rigged wooden auxiliary vessel ol 19 tons, and is fitted wit!) a 2l)-h.p. oil engine. She was built at Auckland in 1905. and ! her owner is Captain F. E. YY ills. SUSSEX AT- AUCKLAND. The Sussex, from Caeulta, Penang, Singapore, and Samaraiig, arrived at Auckland yesterday. The vessel is carrying Eastern merchandise lor discharge at Auckland, YY'elhngton, Lyttelton, Timarn, Dunedin, and Blulf. Slio R duo at this port about September 25. ST MARY'S BAY BREAKWATER. The breakwater which is being constructed at St. Mary’s Bay (Auckland) i to form a. boat harbor is expected to Ibo completed in nine months. When I completed, the breakwater will begin I at a point 2S7.sdeg, 3.6Uoit from the centre of the outer end of Prince's i wharf, and trend 3,13011 on a 277 deg line tangent to a. circle ol 1,1201 G radius, thence on the western arc of | this circle to the reef at Point Erin.
