GOLD TIED TO HER
A remarkable story of a, woman who had had a consultation with an undertaker shortly before her death was told at a Chertsey inquest. A pocket filled with money was found tied round the woman’s body. It contained £l7 in Treasury notes. £5 10s in gold, and numerous loose coins. The woman was Mrs Katherine Kemmish, a widow, said to be without a relative in the world. A few moments before her death she had sent for an undertaker, and w'hen he remarked sho did not look too well, Mrs Kemmish said: “ That is one of the resaons 1 sent for you. Since my husband's death I have not been at all well. J never know if I am going to wake up the next morning. So I wanted the matter of keeping my husband’s grave settled. ’ After having a glass of water she sat down in a chair and died almost immediately. Mrs Agnes Tite, a neighbor, described the finding of the money, and a relieving officer told the coroner that the woman bad been in receipt of relief. The verdict was death
