OUTBREAK IN LITHUANIA

BERLIN, September 10. A message from Mcmel" states that Communist revolts have broken out in several Lithuanian towns. The Government is rushing troops to tho scenes.
GOVERNMENT'S PROMPT ACTION.
RIGA, September 11. (Received September 12, at 10 a.m.)
The Lithuanian revolt was organised by the Leftists, with tho object of overthrowing tho Government. The town of Tauronggcn, between Riga and Tilsit, as well as "other small towns and villages, were fourteen hours in tho hands of the rebels, who disarmed the police, occupied the barracks and stations, and summoned other towns to join them. The Government proclaimed a state of war, and rushed troops from Kovno and Mcmel, and instituted a Press censorship. This prompt action resulted in the revolt being suppressed. It is reported that many people were killed or wounded. Tho loader, Maijus, was recently expelled from the army, and other prominent ' insurgents escaped.
RAID ON BANK
LONDON, September 11. (Received September 12, at 11.5 a.m.) Tho Riga correspondent of ‘ The Times ’ says that, with sixty supporters, a Lithuanian ox-staff officer, Captain Maijus, who was recently cashiered on account of his Communist activities, made a surprise attack on tho police headquarters at Taurage, liberating the prisoners, who assisted in a raid on the local band, seizing bundles of Lithuanian and American notes. They also entered other Government establishments, but wore dispersed on the arrival of the military from Momel, Shots were exchanged, and two of the raiders were killed.—‘The Times.’
