TO BE CLOSED DOWN LOW PRICE. OF LEAD. Press Association— By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, September 11. The Broken Hill proprietary mine directorate announces its closing down About September 24. This step is taken owing to the low price of lead and no indications of a substantial recovery. Over 1,000 men will be made idle. It is understood that Black 14 mine will close at the same time, making idle a large number. The announcement caused a heavy slump in the price of all Broken Hill shares. The directors regret making idle the mine workers, but in view of the extent of the losses already made and the present outlook of the load marketf they consider that continuance of operations at the present time is not justified
