Tho popularity of the Kaikorai Band’s Sunday evening concerts was again demonstrated last nighty when a packed audience listened to a first-class programme. Miss Meda Paine gave a most artistic rendering of the negro spirituel ‘Were You There?’ and her recall number was also greatly appreciated. Miss Madge Yates was doubly encored for her recitations, and Mr Jas. Paterson also had 1 to submit another item after his singing of ‘ The Bedouin Love Song.’ Bandsmen 1. Coughlau and J. Logan gave as a cornet duet ‘lda and Dot,’ and_ wore called upon to repeat portion of it. The high standard of the band’s playing was evinced in all the items rendered by it, the fine work in ‘ Tho Turkish Patrol ’ being particularly acceptable, while splendid renditions were given of ‘ Chu Chin Chow/ ‘ Lntspiel,’ and the stirring march ‘ Washington Greys.’ “ Browneight has certainly worked himself up, hasn’t he?” “How’s that?” “He used to be a chiropodist; now he’s a dentist.” “They call him a musical miser." “How is that?” “He loves close harmony.”-
