Messrs Dalgcty and Co., Ltd., report as follows: — Oats.—There has been some Inquiry for this cereal during tho last week, but the market is still very dull, and only an odd sale is being effected. We quote: A Gartens. 2s Cd; B Gartens. 2s 3d per bushel, on trucks country stations. Wheat. —The firming in this market reported as having taken place iu Canterbury has not reflected much change. Local millers, however, are not buying to any great extent. P.rices_ remain practically unchanged, 6s being obtained for Tuscan variety, on trucks country stations. Potatoes. —Very few lines are coming to hand from this district, but aav lines of good quality can bo disposed of at £5, ex truck Regular supplies from Canterbury are still reaching this mar* kct.

Chaff.—A fair quantity has been coming to hand during the past week, and any well-cut bright and .heavy lines are being taken by local feeders. Any lines that are not prime are difficult to quit, and have to bo sold at very reduced prices. We quote: Prime oaten sheaf to £5 us per ton (sacks extra). PROPERTY SALE. Messrs Spedding and Bagley offered to-dav by auction, in the estate of the late “Mary B. Doves, a property at Royal terrace, but it failed to reach the reserve and was passed in. It was afterwards sold privately to Mr W. A. Scott at a satisfactory figure. SALES ON ’CHANGE: THIS DAY. Auckland. —Lucky Shot, 2s 3d. Reported: National Insurance, 70s 6d; Inscribed 4} per cent. Loan (1938), £96 7s 6d. Christchurch. —Sales reported: Bank of New Zealand, 58s 2d; South British Insurance, 58s 3d. Goldsbrongh Mort, 44s 8d; and British Tobacco, 54s 3d. On ’change: South British Insurance, 58s 3d; and British Tobacco, 51s 3d (two parcels).
