ONTARIO CEASES TO IE " 03V " When Ontario “fell off the water wagon ” on June 1, she did so with a decided thud, or splash. Says an American exchange:— In Ontario beer and ale, assorted whiskys, champagnes, brandies, gins, and other liquors are on sale throughout the province at stores conducted by tho Government. The liquor is being dispensed to the thirsty who have a permit card. Liquor permits for residents of Ontario cost 2 dollars a year. Tourists’ permits cost 2 dollars a month. The limit is two cases of beer at a time to residents and one case to a tourist, with six quarts at a time as the limit on liquors.

But there is no limit on the number of visits a customer may make to one or the other of the stores during a day. Liquor must bo consumed in the home. Under the ruling by the Government, however, a hotel room or even a'tourist’s tent is a “home. Public drinking is prohibited. Official prices of liquor at Government stores are: —Beer, case of twelve quarts, 3 dollars 25 cents; brandies, quart, 3 dollars to 5 dollars; champagne, quart, 3 dollars to 5 dollars; gins, quart, 1 dollar 50 cents to 3 dollars; bourbon (320 z quart), 3 dollars to 5 dollars; Scotch (Canadian, 260 z nnart), 3 dollars to 5 dollars; Scotch (Canadian, 260 z quart), 3 dollars to 5 dollars.
