EMPIRE DEFENCE

THE DOMINIONS' SHARE STATEMENT BY MR AMERY. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. CAPE TOWN, September 9. (Received September 10, at 11 a.m.) lit reference to Empire defence, speaking in Johannesburg, Mr L. S. Amery (Secretary for the Dominions) declared that Britain would doubtless carry the major portion oi the burden, but she could not carry all. “That is a responsibility,” lie said, “which is the natural corollary of freedom, and will, in duo course, ensure each dominion bearing a fair share oi the common task. Each' dominion must judge its own responsibilities in that matter, but it is clear that the best interest of each is also the best interest of the whole, and the security for each can only bo found if the whole is strong.” ,
