The death is announced of Sir John Scott Keltie, former , president of the geographical section of the British Association, at the age of eighty-seven. fThc late Sir John Scott Keltie, F.R.G.S., F.S.S., F.S.A., LL.D., was born at Dundee in 1840, and was educated at St. Andrews and Edinburgh Universities. He joined the editorial staff of W. and R. Chambers in 1861, and was with Macmillan and Co, from 1871 to 1884. For several years he was sub-editor of ‘Nature.’ Ho became an honorary member of most of the leading geographical societies of the world, and was made president of the geographical section of the British Association in 1897. His publications include a history of the Scottish Highlands and Clans, ii report on geographical education, and a history of geography. He was the editor of the * Stateman’s Year Book’ from 1880 onwards.]
