WATERSIDE WORKERS ARBITRATION COURT APPEALS. Press Association—-By Telegraph— Copyright. MELBOURNE, January 14. (Received January 14, at 11.10 a.m.) The Arbitration Court, after hearing argument in the appeals of the Waterside Workers’ Federation, in opposition to the registration of the Permanent and Casual Wharf Laborers’ Union of Australia, referred tho matter back to the deputy-registrar. The appeals in the meantime remain part heard until the registrar reports to the court.
HO STRIKE AUSTRALIAN METAL INDUSTRY. SYDNEY, January 14. (Received January 14, at 11.10 a.m.) A meeting of the Australian Society of Engineers decided to reject the proposal to declare a strike in the metal industry with the object of forcing the employers to grant a _ forty-four-hour week, as an early decision of the Arbitration Court in ’the forty-four-hour case is expected.
