It wa<s stated that the child was brought into the ncGjiital suffering from diphtheria in a most acute form, and Dr .\hillally recognised that to save the child's life an operation must be performed immediately, lie at onre ordered tho child to be taken to the operating theatre. Well knowing the risk he ran, lie did not wait to put a mask on nis face, every second being preeio-.i. ihe oparation was successful, but three days afterwards Dr Mulialiy had to be removed to a fever hospital suffering from diphtheria, caught owing to his unseltiah action in peTionvimg the operation before taking tho necessary precautions for himself. Ho hovered between life and death in tho hospital until the end of February, and could not rceumo duty until the end of March.
