The death is announced of Franz Van Reenen, after whom the famouo pa6s in tho Drakensburg Rang© on the Natal and Free State bonier was named. This was tho tra-ck through which the Voortrckkers passed on their way to the beautiful land of Natal, and which is still one of the main arteries of traffic between Natal and the interior. Van Reenen was note! for his open-handed hospitality, and his death at nearly 90 years of age removes from South Africa one of the most interesting links with tho earlier life on this part of the sub-continent.
