SECONDARY HOSPITAL SITE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Does it not'seem a stronge idea t« propose the erection of hospital buildings in the midst of a Drcercsdve dairying district? Milk is known to be highly susceptible to contamination by dbea.ee germs. A large area of Pin? Hill is used as grazing ground for dairy herds, the milk from which is distributed throughout the City. Therefore, the advent of an institution such as is propo ; cd in that locality would seem to be illogical, to put it mildly. There is also the question of drainage, admitted by competent patties to be a, very difficult matter. -Also, there are many residents in the new township; in the vicinity—Dalmore, Gladstone, etc. -Are they entitled to no consideration? Situated as they are on the lower elopes of Pine Hill, they would stand a good ensure of getting the full benefit of any stray microbee that escaped from, the hospital, if erected. The district is well known to be one of the healthiest near the City, and I hope that the Hospital Itoaid, in their wisiorn, will allow it to keep up to its reputation. Bettor sure than sorry. When a site was proposed at Balmacewen some months ago the residents in that township quickly enteied a protest. Have the ratepayers of Xoxth-cast Valley Ward not got an equal right to ask for protection from such an infliction? Finally, Pine Hill ratchc-s the full force of every wind that blows, and doctors agree that exposure to prevailing winds is not conducive to quick cutes for hospital patients.. Residents, wake up ere it is too late.— I am, etc., Ratepayer. July 16.
