A MATCH CANCELLED. WELLINGTON, July 18. Owing to trouble with the New Zealand team the Rugby League fixture Wellington, v. New Zealand, for Saturday next, has been cancelledST. ANDREW HARRIERS. The St Andrew Harriers journeyed to Wingatui yesterday for the purpose of holding a test race to select a team for the Interclub Championship. The course mapped out was over the steeplechase course one and a-half times, then leaving the grounds at the commencement of the straight, through the paddocks on grand stand side, and out on to the railway line to the Wingatui road, along the road to the caretaker's entrance, thence on to the track again, and once round the course. The track was very heavy and rough, yet the first six men home kept well together. E. Kelly was first to finish, with Ferens, Miller, Struthers, Mowat, and Beadle next, in that order. Altogether, the course followed was something over four miles, the time being 26min 55sec. After the race it was finally decided to enter a team for the Interclub Championship, the following team being selected:—E. J. Kelly, G. H. Ferens, C. Miller, A. C Struthers, E. Mowat, and T. Beadle. The club's thanks are due to the Dunedm Jockey Club for the use of rooms and track. CIVIL SERVICE HARRIERS. The Civil Service Harriers will run their three-mile race for the Railway Cup at Forbury Park on Saturday. Read the professional champion of New Zealand, played 750 up with a well-known amateur last night at Bell and Cheerv's Empire. Billiard Rooms. The professional conceded 300, and won by 41, after a good game. Ilk licet breaks were 101, 58 (twice), 40, 34, and 33. The amateur did not make any heavy breaks, but scored consistently at every visit to the table. His best efforts were 37, 29, and 27. ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL. Two alterations have been made in the grounds for next Saturday—viz.: Ravensbourne v. Roslyn-Wakari (first grade), which was to have been played on the Asylum Ground, will now be played at Ravensbowrne, and the fourth grade match Christian Brothers v. Ravensbonrne has been transferred to the Tramsheds. A Christchurch P. A. message states that the committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club have postponed the date of the closing of general entries and acceptances until noon on Monday, owing to the interruption in telegraphic communications caused by the had weather.
